Australian Medical Aid Foundation (AMAF) was founded in 2000 and works in both Australia and Sri Lanka to create better health for people in the North and East of Sri Lanka.

We are a medical-focused, charity in Australia. AMAF delivers emergency and long-term medical programs to support people in the North and East of Sri Lanka. We work together to share expertise, coordinate activities and pool resources, which enables us to extend our reach and impact for people in the North and East of Sri Lanka.

AMAF is a registered charity (ABN: 91 130 857 715). We are a member of Australian Council for International Development (ACFID). AMAF has DGR status with Australian Tax Office.

AMAF is a helath-focused, independent and charity organisation. We have no membership or affiliation to any political party or religion.

AMAF operates from Sydney and Melbourne. But AMAF has members and volunteers all over Australia.

AMAF is a signatory to the Code of Conduct and the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Code of Conduct for Non Government Development Organisations (NGDOs). This Code defines standards of governance, management, financial control and reporting with which NGDOs should comply, and identifies mechanisms to ensure accountability in NGDOs’ use of public monies.

Our programs are funded by income received from donors, sponsorships and through fund raising events

From every $1 Australian Medical Aid Foundation raises, we invest 91 cents to benefit for people in the North and East of Sri Lanka. AMAF helps to buy medical equipment, provide medical services and lesser extent in medical infrastructure.

All members of AMAF are volunteers, not a paid employee. Therefore we managed to reduce our overheads under 10%. All our members and volunteers do not charge their cost in traveling or communication or for their time.

Australian Medical Aid Foundation has a zero tolerance approach to fraud and corruption, to ensure that we can continue our important work to improve the lives of vulnerable children and their families.
